Nicole Louie

Nicole's dissertation research investigates how math teachers work together to redefine what it means to be "good at math" in order to give all students access to rich, rigorous mathematics learning opportunities and positive identities as learners and doers of mathematics. Before coming to Berkeley in the fall of 2009, Nicole taught 7th and 8th grade math in a Chicago charter school. With Na'ilah Nasir, Carlos Cabana, Barbara Shreve, and Estelle Woodbury, she is co-editor of Those Kids, Our Kids: Teaching Mathematics for Equity (forthcoming from Teachers College Press).
